So I setup the off camera flash with umbrella in the kitchen one evening and just quickly fired off a few shots of Bex. Now she’s not one for posing for photographs usually, which is a shame me being a Photographer and everything, you know she couldn’t help but smiling all the time! but we got a couple of shots that I knew I could work with in the end.

So this is the shot I went for, now for processing it. This is where it gets a bit complicated. I started off in Lightroom adjusting white balance a lot, bringing the exposure down, softening the skin a little.

Then when I got it into Photoshop I went crazy, liquify, cloning, painting new eyes at 400% zoomed in, actually painting new eyes is quite a lengthy process, I actually didn’t want to over do it really, but I think I did in the end. You can see now she’s a vampire the lenses you can see in the original are gone, perfect vision!

So I finished off by doing a serious job on skin smoothing, and creating that blemish free vampire look, and here is the finished shot. I must say next time I do it, I’ll probably leave some detail in the skin, and also do something different with the eyes, but hey it was fun to do over the top processing for a change.

So you can compare here is the original.

The bride arrived in a VW Beetle, with the bridesmaids in a VW Camper van, it looked great. The roof was down on the beetle although they’d put it down just at the entrance to the hotel as it had been raining again. The below shot was taken up by the Castle ruins.

As you can see Gaynor was well prepared for the wet weather, these purple wellies came in handy on the beach as well. The castle was a great location although we were running out of luck with the rain at this point, but we had numerous umbrellas, so we managed to stick it out for a while, and I’m really glad we did.

After some family groups, and friends etc, we had a bit of fun. A chance to do some God Father style poses (the groom is half Italian!) and then down to the beach as the sun was blessing us again with its presence.

It was pretty chilly, so the ones that braved the cold and came down to the beach all got in on the action too.

A tequila shot, part of the bestman’s speech included getting Steve to partake in his favourite short. Then the first dance was a great display of Steve’s coordination

An amazing day, and I was glad to be part of it.

Venue : Charlotte House Hotel, Lincoln

It was really great to get such a glowing ‘report’ from Beth, I knew she was a little camera shy, and had hoped that I had been able to make her comfortable. Such a great couple, Beth and Craig’s wedding took place at the Charlotte House Hotel in Lincoln. A great venue, right by the castle and not far from the Cathedral. So great for wedding photography.

I really enjoyed being ferried across to the castle in the hotels golf buggy, and I must say the Coordinator from the Charlotte House Hotel was great, really helpful. The weather held for most of the day so we were able to take all the guests over to the castle grounds to do the group shots, and then just Beth and Craig came across to the Cathedral for some more. We actually bumped into another wedding, the grooms shook hands which I happened to capture, and then we shared the spaces, taking it in turns to use door ways etc.

So a great day, and was very glad to be part of it. See below a few more shots from the day.

I arrived in Lincoln very early and drove straight in to the centre to have a look around. The cathedral is an amazing place and a great location for weddings, especially the wedding photography part!. I spent some time wandering around the cobbled streets around the hotel, checking out locations for shots and basically getting to know the area.

Then I drove up to the brides Mum and Dads house and joined Sarah, Mum and Dad and 6 bridesmaids all getting ready for the day. I had a quick brew and a chat, and then got the camera out and started shooting.

They enjoyed food and champagne in the garden, in fact Sarah’s mum insisted I eat something! which I couldn’t refuse. Sarah was very chilled out and it was the bridesmaids busying about, loosing shoes, looking for make up, etc etc, in fact Sarah spent most of the time doing the bridesmaids hair and attaching false eyelashes to numerous eyelids.

So as soon as I’d got enough shots of the preparations I moved on to the pub next door to the church where the groom and many guests were having a quick drink. i took a few shots there and then went across to the church for the arrival of the bridesmaids.

So then some shots of the groom and his best man, and then it wasn’t long until the bride arrived with her father and the wedding got under way.

I joined the party at the hotel afterwards, did some group shots on the roof terrace, and then took Sarah and Mark into the cobbled streets around the White Hart Hotel and Lincoln’s amazing cathedral.

I stayed for the wedding breakfast and took photographs of the speeches, cake cutting, and then left them to enjoy the rest of there wonderful day.

The student were great and a lot of those photographed were also interviewed and gave great quotes for use in the prospectus. We were shooting in a lot of different situations so working with the wireless triggers for my flashgun was a life saver. Some area the ceiling was so high you couldn’t bounce flash off it, but in others it was great to balance natural sun light with some flash fill.
