Keep the Pavement Dry

Taken on the beach front in Shanklin, Isle of Wight. This was on Christmas Eve 2010 having a nice walk around Shanklin. We do the same walk pretty much every time we go down. Start at my Mums house, head for the Olde Village, down Chine road, past the Chine Inn, down to the front close to Fishermans Cottage, then right along the beach front, then back up either the cliff lift or if we are feeling energetic the steep road.

    Interesting.

The same slogan or admonition is to be found on one in Burgersdorp in the Western Cape, South Africa. See Burgersdorp is an amazing place : Khanya,

I wonder what its origin was.
